Amal Kapen is the lead designer of her eponymously named interior design firm based in Huntington, New York.  Specializing in Coastal interiors, Amal loves to create layered, unique spaces by incorporating antique and modern pieces that result in comfortable and welcoming homes.


The South African born designer’s love of color is characteristic of her snappy, pretty style and has recently been featured in Coastal Living, Cottages and Bungalows Magazine and Newsday.  In September, 2018, Amal opened her first design retail shop featuring curated vintage and new accessories, lighting and furnishings. 


Raised in Garden City,  New York, Amal attended Amherst College and Vanderbilt University School of Law.  After stint as corporate lawyer, she set her sights on her true passion, interior design.  Amal returned to school and worked with acclaimed interior designer Meg Braff, where she assisted and styled homes for numerous published projects and acted as the stylist for the new photography in Meg’s newly published book, A Decorated Home.  Currently, Amal resides on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, with her husband and two boys.
